The production process of the countdown visuals and sounds used in Crazy Raccoon Cup (CR Cup).
Crazy Raccoon Cup is a gaming tournament organized by the pro-gaming team “Crazy Raccoon” for the purpose of expanding the world of esports. It is an online event that features those active in various fields of work such as pro-gamers, streamers, creators, and talents.
CR Cup prides itself on being one of the most viewed eSports entertainment show in Japan. The total viewership count exceeds 500,000 at times.
The implementation of the countdown aims to foster a sense of unity among participants and viewers, enhancing the experiential value of official broadcasts. This serves to elevate the branding of both the CR Cup and its organizer, Crazy Raccoon.
In anticipation of the event kicking off with even greater intensity, we aim to stimulate plenty of comments during the broadcast, while offline, we strive to create moments where people can cheer along with the countdown.
We've set up the project so that we can change the key colors easily, making it so that we can adjust the impression to match the game title.
In this video, we've established two keywords based on the concept of forming teams, practicing together, and focusing on the process leading up to the tournament.
The first keyword is "consolidation”.
The various participants are represented by various shapes, which come together to form a cube, elevating the dimension. Through objects and motion, it depicts the process until the teams unite as one.
The other keyword is "Intersection".
It refers to the interaction between participants and viewers of the CR Cup, as well as among the teams.
For each team, the shapes of the objects differ, emphasizing individuality. It illustrates clashes, competing for the top, and captures the distinctive atmosphere of the event.
From flat designs resembling UI to 3D designs that evoke transparency and space, the visuals incorporate a wide range of textures. When complementing these visuals with sound, the initial impressions were directly matched with corresponding sounds.
For the initial 2D graphics, mechanical sound effects reminiscent of operating a spacecraft were used. As the 3D elements increased, more Foley materials and other real-world sounds were added, building up excitement with sounds reminiscent of those used in movie trailers. While bringing everything together and building tension, a sense of convergence was crafted, where every element gradually moves towards a single point.
